In this session, we will discuss how to create and deliver efficient and effective mini-lessons. We will practice reading and pulling out the most important elements of each lesson to fill in the mini-lesson template and/or rewriter condense some parts to make them more authentic for your teaching style. You can rewrite or modify the mini-lessons you developed this year or plan mini-lessons for a new unit using this structure. The goal is to make sure you can create and deliver effective mini-lessons that are written in a format that feels accessible to you.
We’ll use a variety of resources, including The Units of Study in Reading (Calkins et. al.), The Reading Strategies Book (Serravallo), and Fountas and Pinnell Grade Level Mini-Lessons (Fountas and Pinnell) If you have these resources, bring them along!
